Overview of the March-April 2016 Issue of Living Church News

LCG has released another issue of Living Church News. Let us see what they have to say.

Roderick C. Meredith has a personal article calling upon LCG members to maintain unity. This appeal will be much more urgent now that a lawsuit has been made against Roderick Meredith and Rod McNair.

Roderick C. Meredith also has an article telling LCG members how to view the upcoming observance of (LCG's version of) Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread.

Gary Ehman has an article discussing (LCG's version of) Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread insisting that all the Christian who do not observe these festivals are false Christians.
Why do we keep these days of Unleavened Bread gathered together, as one body, while the whole world lies in utter ignorance of what we are doing? (p. 6.)
Because HWA taught you to do these things and LCG has devoted itself to continue observing this practice.

Dexter Wakefield has an article summarizing HWA's interpretation of the seven festivals observed by the COGs throughout the year.

Peter Nathan has an article discussing the archaeological evidence that the name Jesus was widely used in the Holy Land during the time of Jesus Christ. This is mentioned in order to contradict the Sacred Name doctrine which insists on only using Hebrew names when referring to God.
People have contended that the name Jesus was a pagan name and that the Son of God would have to have a Hebrew name alone. They contend that it is a matter of breaking the third Commandment to use the term Jesus in the English language, or as it might be translated in any other language. Was the name Jesus—or in Greek IESOUS—an accepted name among the Jews at the time of the early Christian Church? (p. 12.)
So LCG seems to be worried that some of their members might convert to some Sacred Name group?

Faye League has an article encouraging women to behave well.

The LCG Editorial Staff have an article encouraging LCG members to set their priorities when arranging their lives in regards to (LCG's) God, family, employment and follow LCG members.

Here are some of the headings used in this article.
Priority 1: Put God First ...

Priority 2: Put Family Second (pp. 16-17.)
Ordinations, weddings, wedding anniversaries, births and obituaries are listed.

Harold Way has a little article condemning some women for buying a brand new Easter bonnet for Easter. It also condemns the practice of walking on Easter Sunday. This articles serves to reinforce HWA's ban on Easter that continues to be imposed by LCG.

And so we see that LCG has produced yet another issue of Living Church News to once again bolster their legitimacy in the eyes of LCG members to accept their authority which justifies, among other things, paying three tithes and extra offerings to LCG.

  1. That is probably very accurate what you say about concern over sacred names. LCG are relatively small, so it could have been something that came up in a few of the larger congregations where there could be a worry about it spreading and causing some to leave. Maybe it was only mentioned in passing in a sermon or sermonette that got taped and passed around. They need some excitement in their very closed world. "Government and authority" exercised is always what is required in that case.
